Ardbeg 2006 16 Year Old Feis Ile 2023 Single Cask No.2787 | Ardbeg
Archive Details
A Rare Feis Ile Ardbeg Release
Distilled at Ardbeg on 20th July 2006 and bottled for Feis Ile 2023, this exceptional 16 year old single cask release was matured in a second-fill Oloroso sherry cask before extended ageing brought additional depth and complexity. Selected as Cask No.2787, this limited official bottling combines Ardbeg’s unmistakable Islay peat character with an unusually rich and sherried profile. Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration or added colouring, only 623 individually numbered bottles were released.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Dense peat smoke layered with molasses, dark fruit cake, roasted nuts, leather, clove spice, and rich Oloroso sweetness.
- Palate: Full-bodied and oily with smoked dates, brazil nuts, espresso, burnt sugar, maritime salinity, and warming spice balanced against mature sherry richness.
- Finish: Long, smoky, and deeply savoury with lingering ash, dried fruits, oak spice, dark chocolate, and subtle coastal peat.

About the Distillery
Ardbeg remains one of Islay’s most revered distilleries, celebrated for producing intensely peated whisky with remarkable balance and complexity. Mature Ardbeg single casks, particularly official festival releases with unusual sherry influence, have become increasingly sought after among collectors due to their limited availability and distinctive character.
About the Bottling
Released for Feis Ile 2023, this bottling represents a notably different interpretation of Ardbeg’s spirit profile. The prolonged maturation in Oloroso sherry oak tempers the distillery’s trademark smoke with dense richness, dried fruit depth, and savoury complexity. Official Ardbeg single casks released for the festival are produced in extremely limited quantities and are rarely repeated once sold.
