Distilled at an undisclosed Highland distillery in 1989 and bottled in 2019 for The Wine Society’s Reserve Cask Selection, this 30 year old single malt brings together whisky from seven hogsheads and two butts. Matured in sherry casks for three decades and bottled at 46% ABV, the release was limited to 2,064 individually numbered bottles.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Candied orange peel, dried figs and roasted hazelnuts, with mature fruit and nutty depth.
• Palate: Rich and full-bodied, with honeyed sweetness, toasted brioche, fruitcake, nuts and developing citrus notes.
• Finish: Long and composed, carrying lingering dried fruit, nuts and mature sherry-cask richness.

About the Bottling

The Wine Society’s Reserve Cask Selection was created around parcels of mature Scotch considered distinctive enough to be released separately rather than disappear into broader blends. For this 1989 Highland release, seven hogsheads and two butts were brought together after 30 years of maturation, producing 2,064 individually numbered bottles. The whisky was bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and without colour adjustment, preserving the character of this mature sherry-cask parcel.
