Tormore 1990 31 Year Old Whisky Sponge Edition No.33 | Decadent Drinks
Archive Details
A 31 Year Old Tormore from the Whisky Sponge
Distilled at Tormore in 1990 and bottled in 2021 at 31 years of age, this limited release forms Edition No.33 of the cult Whisky Sponge series from Decadent Drinks. Created from a marriage of two first-fill barrels and bottled at 53% ABV, only 422 bottles were produced.
The whisky was sourced from the personal family reserves of Giuseppe Linguini, a recurring fictional personality within the irreverent world created around Whisky Sponge. Behind the deliberately eccentric presentation lies a seriously mature Speyside whisky: three decades of maturation, a small outturn and a bottling strength specifically selected to emphasise the fruit character of the aged Tormore spirit.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Mature orchard fruits, citrus oils and waxy notes with gentle vanilla, honey and polished oak.
Palate: Rich and fruit-led, with ripe stone fruit, citrus, honeyed malt and warming spice framed by mature oak.
Finish: Long and warming, carrying lingering fruit, spice and seasoned oak.

About the Distillery
Established in the late 1950s, Tormore is one of Speyside’s more architecturally distinctive distilleries, yet historically much of its production has disappeared into blends rather than appearing as long-aged single malt. Independently bottled examples from earlier decades therefore offer an interesting perspective on the distillery, particularly when allowed more than three decades of maturation.
About the Bottling
Whisky Sponge became known among enthusiasts for combining playful, satirical presentation with carefully selected mature and unusual Scotch whisky. Edition No.33 is a particularly compelling example: a 1990-vintage Tormore assembled from two first-fill barrels, matured for 31 years and limited to 422 bottles. Its distinctive label and unconventional backstory make it immediately recognisable within the series.
