A Centenary Glenfiddich in Wedgwood Jasperware

Bottled in 1987 to commemorate one hundred years since spirit first flowed from the stills at Glenfiddich, this 21 year old release combines mature Speyside single malt with one of the distillery’s most distinctive historical presentations. The whisky is housed in a specially commissioned Wedgwood Jasper decanter and bottled at 43% ABV.

The blue-grey ceramic decanter was created by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons exclusively for William Grant & Sons, decorated with raised relief depicting Glenfiddich’s stag and Highland landscape. More than simply an older Glenfiddich, the release represents a collaboration between two enduring British names and a physical commemoration of an important milestone in the distillery’s history.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe red apple and fresh pear with sweet honey, raw sugar and rich vanilla over soft creamy notes.

Palate: Smooth vanilla cream and melon, followed by caramelised sugar, dry oak, warming cinnamon and bright orange peel.

Finish: Long and sweet, with lingering spice and a subtle peppery warmth.

About the Distillery

Founded by William Grant in Dufftown in 1887, Glenfiddich grew to become one of the defining names in single malt Scotch whisky. Historic commemorative releases such as this offer a very different collecting proposition from the distillery’s contemporary range, preserving both an earlier era of Glenfiddich whisky and the presentation traditions surrounding milestone bottlings.
