A Cask Strength Islay Special Release

Released as part of Diageo’s 2020 Special Releases collection, this 12 year old Lagavulin presents the distillery’s intensely smoky Islay character at natural cask strength. Matured in traditional refill American oak casks and bottled at 56.4% ABV, the restrained cask influence allows Lagavulin’s peat smoke, maritime character and citrus-driven spirit to remain firmly at the centre of the whisky.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Precise and maritime, with sea air, iodine and ash alongside grapefruit, citrus oils, gentle fruit and a subtle oily character.
• Palate: Powerful yet controlled, combining dense peat smoke with lemon and orange citrus, smoked nuts, pepper, coastal salinity and restrained oak sweetness.
• Finish: Long, dry and increasingly ashy, with persistent smoke, pepper, brine and lingering maritime notes.
