Roseisle's Inaugural Single Malt Release

Released as part of Diageo’s 2023 Special Releases collection, The Origami Kite holds an important place in Roseisle’s short history as the distillery’s first single malt released to the public. Matured for 12 years in first-fill ex-bourbon and refill casks and bottled at natural cask strength of 56.5%, it introduced drinkers and collectors to a distillery whose spirit had previously been produced primarily for Diageo’s blending requirements.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Mellow and layered, with vanilla, ripe orchard fruit, light cereal notes and white chocolate, developing touches of stone fruit and gentle spice.
• Palate: Creamy and full-textured, combining sweet vanilla with apple, citrus, ripe fruit and warming spice, supported by the richness of bourbon-cask maturation.
• Finish: Long, rich and gently spicy, with lingering fruit, vanilla sweetness and a touch of white pepper.

About the Bottling

The Origami Kite represents a milestone for Roseisle, becoming the distillery’s first single malt released to the public when it appeared in Diageo’s 2023 Special Releases collection. Until this release, Roseisle was known principally as a modern, highly flexible distillery producing malt for Diageo’s wider blending portfolio. Its debut as a named single malt therefore gives this 12 year old particular significance as the expression that introduced Roseisle’s individual identity to whisky drinkers and collectors.

About the Distillery

Roseisle began production in 2010 near Elgin in Speyside and was designed as one of Diageo’s most modern and versatile malt distilleries. Its still and condenser configuration allows different styles of spirit to be produced for the wider blending portfolio. With no longstanding core single malt range behind it, early official Roseisle bottlings occupy an unusual position for collectors: they document the emergence of a major modern distillery as a single malt in its own right.
